THE YĀDÂ STORY
A reminder to choose gratitude, find the good, and hold on to hope, even when life looks different than you imagined.
Some seasons don’t look anything like we thought they would. A chronic illness or long COVID can wipe out the clarity and capacity you counted on. Work, finances, and relationships can shift overnight. The answers haven’t come. The plan has changed. You’re somewhere in the middle, still figuring it out.
YĀDÂ grew from a personal reflection on what gratitude can mean in those moments — not as a slogan, and not as a promise that everything will be fixed, but as a way to feel less alone while you keep going. Its roots are in faith. Its invitation is to carry that practice into the life you’re living.

A note from Jon, founder of EMPOWEAR
For years, I’ve talked about living with an “attitude of gratitude.” To me, it meant choosing to see the good, speaking words that encourage, and celebrating the blessings all around us.
Then long COVID changed the life I knew. I hadn’t really understood what living with a chronic illness could take from a person — how it can wipe out energy, clarity, and the ability to create the way you always had — until I was living it. For more than three decades, my security net had been simple: no matter what happened outside me — losses, business setbacks, whatever — nobody could take my mind or my ability to turn ideas into something real. When this hit, it disrupted both the outside and the inside. Suddenly I was starting over.
I still believed in gratitude. But now I was learning what it meant to choose it while life was unresolved — with fear and waiting and confusion in the room — without pretending that what I’d lost didn’t matter. Reflecting on YĀDÂ gave that practice a deeper meaning.
It’s not just about being grateful for what you can see.
It’s learning to trust God with what you can’t see yet.
YĀDÂ is:
Gratitude in uncertainty.
Gratitude in fear.
Gratitude in waiting.
Gratitude in confusion.
Gratitude in the “not yet.”
Gratitude in the “even this.”
It’s saying:
“God, I thank You now because You already know what I don’t.”
So wherever you find yourself today—
If the diagnosis hasn’t come back…
If the finances don’t make sense…
If the relationship is unresolved…
If the future feels uncertain…
You can still choose YĀDÂ.
Because gratitude isn’t built on having everything figured out.
It’s built on trusting the God who already holds what you don’t understand.
So for me, in this season,
I’m choosing gratitude…
even in this.

A PLACE FOR YOU HERE
You may connect with the faith behind YĀDÂ, or with the everyday reminder to notice what’s good, appreciate the people beside you, and leave room for possibility. Wherever you begin, you’re welcome here.
Choosing gratitude doesn’t mean pretending everything is perfect, or that you should feel grateful for what hurt you. It means recognizing that this moment isn’t the whole story. You can miss what was — a healthier body, a clearer mind, a steadier season — and still welcome a good moment today. There’s room for both the uncertainty and the possibility.
Whatever your ‘even in this’ looks like, there’s a place for you here. We’re glad you found us.
